Stan and I visited Anya over the 2010 - 2011 New Years Holiday. This was in between many winter snow storms in the Boston and east coast. John had shoveled a couple feet of snow. There were piles about 3 foot high on each side of the sidewalk. Stan and I could take a walk around the beautiful community of Melrose. The homes were all adorned with wreathes along with front porches wrapped with garland and twinkle lights. It was charming.
Anya - age 2 - is a delight. She enjoyed playing with her many dolls. Each one had a name and many times a day it was time for a naps. She would lay out blankets for each one to lay on and then cover them with another blanket.
Grandma had made her several little miniature quilts to use for nap time. When John told me Anya needed blankets for her dolls, he wasn't kidding. I've never seen a little girl get so much enjoyment out of something so simple.
Rachel and John had found an old bisque headed antique doll at a shop. The shop keeper insisted that they take this doll home. It's name was old baby. What a sight she was. Used up from age. Anya treated her just like she was a brand new American Baby doll with all the bells and whistles.
Last summer Anya and family visited Colorado and we went to the Children's museum. We all enjoyed playing with the Brio wooden train set. I made sure Anya had one for Christmas. He daddy was happy too, as we never could afford one for him when he was little.
Her Nana gave her a slide for Christmas. Stan and Rachel put it together and then Anya got to play on it in their spare room on the 3rd floor. Anya was so joyous in anticipation of using the slide as it was being put together. The slide will be moved to the yard in the summer.
What a little sweetie.

2009 Christmas songs for Anya
Miss Anya,
I have been practicing Christmas songs every day for a month so I could play them for you on my saxophone.
Grandpa recorded them for me this evening. Please be understanding as I missed some notes as I was so anxious to play for you.
Grandpa is so silly. Every time he hears the Rudolph song he thinks it is Olive the other Reindeer instead of All of the other Reindeer.
Here's the songs. Merry Christmas.
Love - Grandma
